Hickory Rotary Club's first annual Rotarian Idol singing competition will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010 from 6 to 10 p.m. inside P. E. Monroe Auditorium, on the campus of Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory. The evening will include valuable door prizes, as well as the thrill of witnessing the very first Hickory Rotary Club Idol Competition!
Tickets are $20 for general admission. A limited supply of $50 and $100 VIP tickets are available.

Auditions were held Thursday, February 4th at 7 p.m. and Saturday, February 6th at 3 p.m., at the SALT Block Auditorium in Hickory. John Rambo, Executive Director of Hickory Community Theatre, chaired the audition process.
The Teen Center at the Catawba County YMCA in Hickory also held auditions for two of the thirty slots.

Hickory Rotary Club hopes to raise $60,000 for Catawba County education through the competition. Hickory Rotary Club is the oldest service club in the area, chartered in 1921. The club participates in the global initiatives of Rotary International, including Polio Plus, the world-wide effort to eradicate polio. Locally, the club focuses on education. Two four-year Service Above Self scholarships are awarded to Hickory High School seniors each year. Hickory Rotary Club also honors a Teacher of the Year from each of the Hickory City Schools with an award and honorarium. Our members are active in the tutoring program at Southwest Elementary School in Hickory. The club also makes grants to schools in the Hickory system.
