Wilmer Jenkins Teacher of the Year Award

May 6, 2010, Hickory Rotary Club honored teachers from the Hickory City Schools at the club's annual Teacher of the Year luncheon.

The nominees were: Josh Elder, Hickory High School; Stephen Hitchcock, Catawba Valley High School; Harriett Jeffords, Jenkins Elementary School; Arnold Knight, Grandview Middle School; Allyson Lane, Oakwood Elementary School; Cori Newman, Southwest Elementary School; Steve Smith, Northview Middle School; Stephen Ward, Viewmont Elementary School; Grace Williams, Longview Elementary School.

And the winner was Grace Williams, of Longview Elementary School:

 

 

February 25, 2010, Hickory Rotary Club inducted two new members: Dan Duke, minister at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, and Angie Pooley, manager of sales and marketing at Sterling House of Hickory.

 

October 1, 2009 - Ken Burkel of the Clemmons Rotary Club presented a program on the club's program to promote organ donor awarness by placing messages on the sides of tractor-trailers. Local firm Shull Trucking brought one of their rigs to the meeting.

 

 August 27, District Governor Carol King addressed the club, and was presented with a "Hickory Stick".

  

May 7, 2009, Dean Doucette and Terry Creasman were two of a record number of Hickory Rotary Club members who donated blood in the annual Blood Drive.

March 12, 2009, the C-Span Bus stopped at Hickory Rotary Club. 

 

 After a great program presentation, members toured the mobile studio. 

 

December 16, 2008 HRC members treated families at Sweetwater Elementary School to Christmas Dinner and a visit from Santa.
